i wanna go back....

hey sweet friends,
i'm turning 28 tomorrow...:)
so Happy Birthday to ME...!!

i think of the many blessings i received,
and my heart wells up with gratitude.
i think of all the goods things in stored for me,
and my heart wells up with joy indescribable.

but my
how time flies
its seems only a couple years back
 when....
getting high meant a swing
and drinking meant milk
when Dad was the only hero
when his shoulder was the highest place on earth.
when love meant mummy's hugs, kisses and cuddles
when our worst enemies were our own siblings
when the only thing that would hurt were wounded knees
images from google

when the only things broken were toys
when friends use us for nothing but  to borrow pencils

when goodbyes meant only until...
evening, when we come from school
or tomorrow when we meet again for school.

Now memories make us realize
life has changed so much
and we have come so far.

i cannot help
but think...

given a choice
i'd like to go back to those days
yes i wanna go back...:)

yet i thank God for HIS goodness and mercies.

for now, i'm just going to sit back
and enjoy being 27.
and soak up the remaining few hours
with some tea and some favourite muffins...:)
and of course,
with candle lights and some soft inspiring music.....!!

thank you for stopping by...
Have a wonderful week ahead!

Love,
Ruth

i can't sleep... cause i'm counting days...

give thanks in everything

not too long ago... i met a beautiful american lady... she told me a story... one of the most beautiful stories I've heard... she told me how her forefathers sailed from england to come to america, the land they call theirs now... they couldn't carry much of their belongings... so they left many many things behind but their BIBLE which was the only book used for their first school.... they landed one cold winter day... many did not survive through... they died of  starvation, sickness... when spring came, the indians taught them to plant corn... they gradually began to produce more than they could consume... during harvests they invited the indians to dinner... so it is said that although there are many stories behind thanksgiving day... inviting the indians to dinner and giving thanks to God for all the plenty is the true story of thanksgiving...

i love that they didn't leave their Bibles behind... i love this story... don't you think this truly a beautiful story? I do!
so to all my sweet american friends... wish y'all a safe and blessed thanksgiving week!

and all of us from other countries... let's remember.. that our nations and families too have history ... there are many things to look back on and be grateful for... let's join our american friends and lift our hearts of gratitude and thank God together.. shall we??

Thou hast given so much to me,
Give one thing more, - a grateful heart;
Not thankful when it pleaseth me,
As if Thy blessings had spare days,
But such a heart whose pulse may be Thy praise.

thankfulness

i was done with my work pretty early today... well before time... i couldn't think of anything else to do so i jotted down a list of things i'm thankful for... and thought it'd be nice to share them with you, my sweet friends...

i'm thankful for
sister-in-law feeling better and feeding the baby now...
the boy's a bundle of miracle.

family and friends that prayed for my SIL

mom's sweet voice and encouragement

dad's cheerful voice and sense of humour

telephone... spoke with my 20 months old niece this morning... i melted

good music and how it makes me feel

sweet friends with whom i can have carefree talk and laughter

job and month end paychecks

rain and cold wind... that make me grateful for the warm clothes

thank you God !

and thank y'all for coming by.

Blessings!!

P.S: don't forget to check back this Saturday for the announcement of the book giveaway winner. if you have not entered yet you still can. HERE.

11.13.2010

i think of you....

the sun is setting low
with its misty orange rays
waving down as curtain laces
of a lady with gentle ways
the stars are shinning bright
as the woods are dim and grand
the moon with its silvery grace
recalls a Gregorian chant
i stay as still as the blessed eve
in wonder of the art i see
and as i wonder, i think of you
and an art which would bring you wonder
so as i, you would marvel at the sight
of the art with beauty so rare
and as i, you would soon realize
the artist who portraits love so dear
then by and by, as you see another sunset
painted red across the sky
remember, oh remember
you are the best of His art.

Love,
Ruth

O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers,
the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him?
and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Gingerbread Season ~ Review & Giveaway

Betsy St. Amant was so gracious to send me her latest release The Ginger Bread Season so i could read and review. I won one of her books Rodeo Sweetheart on a book giveaway. I had enjoyed reading the book so much that i began anticipating the release of her new book Gingerbread Season, since the day i finished reading Rodeo Sweetheart.

And now that i have read it, i thought i would post my review and give away a copy to one of you... the book is signed by the author herself. it is special....

THE BOOK:
Allie James returns to her hometown in need of a holiday job. Never did she expect old boyfriend Jordan Walker to hire her as his secretary! Years ago Jordan shredded her heart like wrapping paper. Now he must convince Allie that all he wants for Christmas is her love.

MY REVIEW:
Allie James fled from Ginger Falls to Kansas City after a tearful seperation with her boyfreind Jordan Walker. She devoted several years learning the inner workings of the business,in hope of starting her own store one day. However, as the book store she worked for went under, she finds herself back at Ginger Falls, in search of a part time job. She is reunited with Jordan Walker after ten years, for a common cause...to revitalize Ginger Falls.

Will Allie be able to forgive Jordan? And what about Jordan? Will he be able to earn Allie's pardon... and win her heart back?

The Gingerbread Season is the second story in the Christmas novel, Mistletoe Prayers. I love the small town cozy settings of the plot... and thoroughly enjoyed the characters... the lovely festive ideas.  This is certainly a heart warming story... one that will make you want for more and wish the story was a little more longer... a perfect read for the season... and would make an absolutely perfect Christmas gift as well..:)

The AUTHOR:
Betsy St. Amant lives in Louisiana and is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers group. Betsy is multi-published through Steeple Hill and has been published in Christian Communicator magazine and Praise Reports: Inspiring Real Life Stories of How God Answers Prayer. One of her short stories, ‘Kickboxing or Chocolate’, appears in a Tyndale compilation book, and she is also multi-published through The Wild Rose Press. She has a BA in Christian Communications and regularly freelances for her local newspaper. Betsy is a fireman’s wife, a mommy to a busy toddler, a chocolate-loving author and an avid reader who enjoys sharing the wonders of God’s grace through her stories.

A Song In The Night

This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed,
because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
~ Lamentations 3:21-23

there are thousands of amazing artists
but none as perfect as my God!
i love the divine sight of an evening sky...
a day has ended well by His grace.
i feel a strong assurance deep within,
of a beautiful tomorrow.
thank you Lord!!
The early morning dew glistens adorning
the tapestry of God's garden.
Dawn gracefully spreads her wings
and with joy declares His loving kindness.
The rising sun smiles upon the earth,
radiantly shining forth God's glory.
Nature humbly genuflects honoring
the Creator and His Righteousness.

Daylight exhibits exquisite paintings
of the heavens and the earth.
Shades of colors unmatched by man,
uniquely designed by God's loving hand.
A picturesque view, beautiful to behold by those
who have eyes to see royalty displayed,
Evidence of God's perfect love
with excellencies so grand.

A candle-like glow of the setting sun portrays
God's majestic handiworks.
Brilliant spectrums softly brush the sky,
filling our hearts with breathless delight.
The daytime slowly dissipates,
glittering stars and moon now earth's light,
And while the dawn peacefully sleeps,
God becomes our sweet song in the night.

could you please pray...

i thank each of you who responded to the prayer call for Skyler.  i'm thrilled beyond words to know that there are many praying in this beautiful blog land. i'm thrilled that although miles and nations apart we can unite our hearts and lift our requests up to the throne of grace.

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. ~ Matthew 18:19

Time to Pray

"Be joyful always; pray continually;
give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus"
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

I got up early one morning
and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I didn't have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me
and heavier came each task;
"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered
He said, "But you didn't ask."

I wanted to see joy and beauty
but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn't show me.
He said,"But you didn't seek"

I tried to come into God's presence;
I used all the keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided
"My child, you didn't knock."

I woke up early this morning
And paused before entering the day.
I had so mush to accomplish
That I had to take time to Pray.
~ Author Unknown.

most often than not,  the poem above pretty much sums up my prayer life.

beware of paper cups...

the following is from an email i received...
i thought i'd share with you too...

An IT professional working in Technopark, was finding himself with an upset stomach every night. While normal medical checks revealed nothing wrong in him, deeper probes revealed the reason – his stomach was collecting significant amounts of wax. And doctors identified the villian – the ordinary paper cups he used for drinking tea at his office pantry.

Disposable paper cups have become quite popular in office pantries due to the convenience it offers. What many overlook is the fact that these paper cups are coated with a tiny layer of wax, which is essential to prevent water from seeping  into the paper. When very hot liquids are pour over this cup, the wax may disintegrate and a little may come off, which will promptly be sent along with the drink into our stomachs! While our body can discard minor amounts, over the long-term, it does become a problem.

a walk and talk with you

i love to go to places
away from the noises of the city
and feast on the beauty of God's creation.
i was thinking....
how nice it would be to take a walk with you
and find a spot to sit ourselves down
and watch together, the sun goes down
and talk about simple, silly stuff you know...

don't you think it would be nice?
i do.
God, i'm so grateful for the many wonderful friends i met here !!

i hope you are enjoying a beautiful week. I am...:)
thank you for coming by and reading.

the brighter side...

hey sweet people.... how have your days been so far? if you ask me the same question i'd tell you its so-so...
this image pretty much sums up my day. you see i have been down with viral conjunctivitis for a couple of days now. haven't been to work... haven't been out... that would mean a house arrest..:) haven't been visiting many lovely blogs that i so love to visit... haven't been able to read my favourite books... i know that sad.

but i'm learning to look at the brighter side... i get to just sit... relax... with my eyes close... listen to some of my favourite songs... commune with God... tell Him a lot of things i never did before... yes i'm enjoying this ALONE time... soaking in His presence... with my earthly eyes closed... i'm learning to open my spiritual eyes to see the bigger picture... and understand His plan... and submit to His will. oh how my soul longs for such a time as this.

i could ramble on and on... but my eyes are already tearing up... screaming for rest. so until next time, you my sweet friends... take care...

In every thing give thanks:
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

All things work together for good to them that love Him
and are called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28

thank you so much for taking time out to pay me a visit. it means a LOT to me..:)
i'll see y'all SOON... Blessings!!

lay it down

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
~ Matthew 11:28

If you are empty
And have nothing to give
You're discontented
By the way that you live
Or maybe you find it
So hard to forgive
Why don't you lay it down?

If you have done something
You'd like to forget
If you have spoken words
That turn in your head
Why beat yourself up
With the things of the past
When you could lay them down
Why don't you lay it down?

'Cause there's a source of help
In every need
There's a place to dwell
Down on your knees
And if I could tell you
How to find peace
You've got to lay it down…

If there are memories
That are too hard to bear
You open your heart
And find bitterness there
If you've been hurt so bad
You don't even care
Why don't you lay it down?
Why don't you lay it down?

It's things like pride and anger
And bitter seeds
They rob us of our freedom
And keep us from peace
But through things like love
And patience and a forgiving heart
That's where the healing can start
God won't let go of your heart
He won't let go of your heart
He won't let go, no

prayer for the children

this breaks my heart....
a little girl selling roses to be able to feed and stay alive....
when i saw this, i was led to pray...
and as i did, i was reminded of the song Prayer of the Children....

Can you hear the prayer of the children on bended knee,
in the shadow of an unknown room?
Empty eyes with no more tears to cry
turning heavenward toward the light.
Crying," Jesus, help me to see the morning light of one more day,
but if I should die before I wake,I pray my soul to take."

Can you feel the hearts of the children
aching for home, for something of their very own.
Reaching hands with nothing to hold onto
but hope for a better day, a better day.
Crying," Jesus, help me to feel the love again in my own land,
but if unknown roads lead away from home,
give me loving arms, 'way from harm."

Can you hear the voice of the children
softly pleading for silence in their shattered world?
Angry guns preach a gospel full of hate,
blood of the innocent on their hands.
Crying," Jesus, help me to feel the sun again upon my face?
For when darkness clears, I know you're near, bringing peace again."

oh sweet sweet friends, won't you please join me to pray for these homeless children? at least a few minutes a day...??

back to day shift

hey there how are you and the week going so far?

as for me, getting back to day shift excites me more than  anything. yes, i'm back to day shift since yesterday. yay!! i must admit i felt like a zombie most part of the day owing to lack of sleep. much as i struggled trying to get enough sleep during the day amidst the noises around when i began my night shift three months back, i now struggle to get sleep during the night. it almost seemed like a nightmare. yet it feels good to be back to day shift. i feel like a normal human being in a normal world..LOL. the absence of my boss and the laughter we had made the long day quite bearable. i don't mean to be MEAN but sometimes it feels good not to have  bosses around...:)

i've been up since 1.30 am... in a few hours time i must be getting ready. for all you know i might end up like this...
but i don't care... i'm still happy to be back to day shift!!

trust y'all are enjoying your week. thank you for stopping by. See y'all.

Explain God.... a story by an 8yr old

It was written by an 8-year-old named Danny Dutton, who lives in Chula Vista, CA. He wrote it for his third grade homework assignment, to "explain God." I wonder if any of us could have done as well?

*****
"One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn't make grownups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way he doesn't have to take up his valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers."

"God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times beside bedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this. Because he hears everything, there must be a terrible lot of noise in his ears, unless he has thought of a way to turn it off."

"God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting his time by going over your mom and dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't have."

"Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren't any who come to our church."

"Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work, like walking on water and performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn't want to learn about God. They finally got tired of him preaching to them and they crucified him But he was good and kind, like his father, and he told his father that they didn't know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said O.K."

"His dad (God) appreciated everything that he had done and all his hard work on earth so he told him he didn't have to go out on the road anymore. He could stay in heaven. So he did. And now he helps his dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones he can take care of himself without having to bother God. Like a secretary, only more important."

"You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to help you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time."

"You should always go to church on Sunday because it makes God Happy, and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God!

Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn't come out at the beach until noon anyway."

"If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're scared, in the dark or when you can't swim and you get thrown into real deep water by a big kid.

"But... you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I figure God put me here and he can take me back anytime he pleases.

And... that's why I believe in God."
*****
p.s: i came across this somewhere and had clipped it in my prayer journal... i thought i'd share it with you here. each time i read it gives me some sort of inspiration and brings smile on my face...:))

...uninspired

thats me....

i know i've been MIA again this whole week... this time its not my sick PC that keeps me away from blogging. its ME... uninspired me....

if you are clueless about why i'm not inspired... i have no special reason other than my hectic work schedule. i've been working  six days, 12 hours a day... and that's tiring!

and i'm feeling a little conflicted deep within... i have had to make decisions... tough ones. although i'm excited about what God has instored for me i also feel a deep sense of loneliness and i'm scared to death... at times.  at times i feel my heart churns out inspiration like a stream of river and i'm elated... but there is this unknown dilemma  that kicks in what ifs... i'm stepping out in FAITH nevertheless...

have you ever felt that way...conflicted ?

i'm sorry this post have to be this way... but i just wanted to be honest with you y'all my sweet friends. 'cause i know y'all understand.

and now that i have a few hours by myself before i get to bed... i'm going to make myself some coffee, and perhaps listen to some country songs while i sit and sip my coffee... staring out the window.

so until next post,

have a blessed week sweet friends!!

the wonder of it all....

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? ~ Psalm 8: 4

of late i have  been so drawn to the beauty of God's beautiful creation. the beauty that i see in sunrise or sunset or just a little flower blooming fills me with wonder. i'm  thrilled beyond words to know that i am LOVED by the God who created all these. and i find myself singing this song.. morning, day and night....

There’s the wonder at sunset at evening
The wondrous sunrise I see
But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is the wonder that God loves me
The wonder of it all
The wonder of it all
Just to think that God loves me
Oh the wonder of it all
The wonder of it all
Just to think that God loves me
There’s the wonder of spring time and harvest
The sky, the stars, the sun
But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is the wonder that’s only begun

I look at the swaling sunset

thank you all for the sweet sweet comments left on my previous post. my computer crashed and i have no access to the Internet since my previous post... i'm posting this from my friend's to let y'all know that I've not forgotten you, and i miss visiting and reading your posts. i hope to get it fixed soon. now lets look forward to a great weekend....leaving you one of my sunset pictures and a favorite poem for now...:)
I look at the swaling sunset
And wish I could go also
Through the red doors beyond the black-purple bar.

I wish that I could go
Through the red doors where I could put off
My shame like shoes in the porch,
My pain like garments,
And leave my flesh discarded lying
Like luggage of some departed traveller
Gone one knows not where.

Then I would turn round,
And seeing my cast-off body lying like lumber,
I would laugh with joy.

mount with wings...

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. - Isaiah 40:30,31

i don't know what kind of bird it is (in the pic), but i was watching it feeding on something on a huge branch. for no apparent reason it all of a sudden spread its powerful wings, spiraled upward. It soared higher, eventually dissolved into something like a tiny dot and disappeared.
this sight reminded me of the above uplifting verses from Isaiah 40. it says that when we trust and wait on the Lord, we shall mount with wings... rise above difficulties... fly above the mists and darkness of earth into the clear sunshine of God’s presence. just how cool that is !

i learned that the eagle has rapidity of flight, power of scent and keenness of vision. so when God says that we will mount up with wings like eagles, it means our mounting up is not only a matter of rising above difficulties, it involves a JOYOUS and QUICK DISCERNMENT of the WILL and WAY of God for us and the keen VISION of Himself by FAITH.

here's a beautiful song Everlasting God by Lincoln Brewster.

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious ointment ..."  ~ Psalm 133:1
