What does the Bible say about gossip?

Darlene Zschech tweeted today, "Its always best to pray for one another rather than criticising.. PLEASE,lets be found lifting people rather than in the gutter of gossip".

I agree, gossipers, those always pretending to be 'in the know all', do dwell in a gutter... while they break trust of people around and murder people's character they gossip about. When we gossip we are judging others, and God clearly tells us in the Bible that judging others isn't our job. Its His.- Matthew 7:1 – “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” When we gossip we are trying to prove ourselves better... we are trying to exalt ourselves while we make others look bad. When we gossip we are talking about others fault and failings and even when we mean no harm it still is a gossip. The Bible is against it!  Romans 1:29-32   clearly states that gossip is a sin and those involve in it are under God's wrath. I like to take Bible as my mirror... i like to, at least i'm trying to, live my life in the ways the Bible teaches us to.So i went back to the Bible to find out what it says about gossip.....

What does the Bible say about gossip?
The Bible clearly commands us to do more than gossip!

Proverbs 11:13 – “A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.”

Proverbs 18:8 – “The words of gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man’s inmost parts.”

Proverbs 26:20 – “Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.”

Leviticus 19:16 – “Do not go about spreading slander among your people. Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord.”

1 Timothy 5:13 – “Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to.”

I know how embarrassed and awful i feel when i'm a victim of gossip... i've hurt, i've cried myself to sleep many times when i feel betrayed by those gossipers... those i  thought i could trust. yes, i know the pain of being gossiped about...

So what do we do about gossip?
When we are faced with gossip, we check out for facts... and go to the person... rather than participating in gossip.  Deuteronomy 13:14 – “Then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly.”

But as for me, i rather do what
Proverbs 16:28 says – “A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man (woman) who talks too much.”  So avoid!

Its always easier said than done but i like what the Bible says in  Matthew 7:12 – “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”
let it end with you... with me.

We don't want people to gossip about us, then we better not participate in a gossip. And like DZ said, lets be lifting up one another in prayer rather than criticising... rather than dwelling in the reeking gutter if gossip.

from my Valentine...:-)

i got not one but two books yay! ...can't wait to start reading...

and, Happy Valentine's Day all!

God's wings...

i received an email today from a loved one that states,
the painters of these feathers are outstanding, but the message that follows "God's Wings" will touch your heart..
these paintings are indeed beautiful...they are outstanding...
but this messages speaks volumes to my heart!

God's Wings -
After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park , forest rangers
began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage.

One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched
statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat
sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick.

When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under
their dead mother's wings. The loving mother, keenly aware
 of
impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the
tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing
that the toxic smoke would rise.

She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her
babies. Then the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her
small body, the mother had remained steadfast ...because she had
been willing to die, so those under the cover of her wings would live
.
'He will cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you will find refuge.'
(Psalm 91:4)

Being loved this much should make a difference in your life.
Remember the One who loves you, and then be different because of it.

Time waits for no one. Treasure every moment you have. You will
treasure it even more when you can share it with someone Special.
To realize the value of a Friend...lose one.

Becoming Titus 2: What does it mean to be reverent?

Continuing the series of  becoming Titus 2 woman with eLisa....
Here's the scripture reference,
3Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
Lisa answered to this question so clearly and in a very simple way... so go go peek into her extravagant site here.
its been a great week for me so far... i' still on my favourite read... the confessions part ...:-))

I asked Jesus

"How much do you love me?"

"This much"
he answered,
and he stretched out his arms
and died.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13...
thank you Jesus for this love... oh so beautiful... so marvelous... so wonderful...  i stand in awe of YOU!
